How do I quit smoking easier with Nicotine Replacement Therapy?
We know quitting smoking is hard and people always want to know how to make quitting smoking easier. When a person gives up smoking, they are battling to give up their addiction to nicotine. This is because Nicotine is a highly addictive chemical, and people can develop an addiction/dependency on it from smoking cigarettes. It’s always recommended people use a form of nicotine replacement therapy to help making quitting smoking easier.
This is because if a person was to completely stop having nicotine, they may suffer from withdrawal symptoms which can be very unpleasant. On today’s market, there are many different options of nicotine replacement therapy that can help a person quit smoking, from patches, to lozenges, to gum and more recently, nicotine pouches. We’ve listed a few of the different options below and give a little detail into what they are and what they can do for you to help you quit smoking.
Nicotine patches
Nicotine patches are small patches that people place onto their skin, normally the upper arm and they deliver nicotine through the pores of the skin over a slow gradual time frame.
You place the patch somewhere on your skin where it’s clean and the patch will stay in place. The patches deliver the nicotine and normally after 24 hours, you will need to replace the nicotine patch.
These are one of the original methods that GPs have recommended to people who are wanting to quit smoking. However, some people cannot use patches, which could be down to issues like sensitive skin and can’t have plasters on, or they may be allergic to the gum used to make the plasters sticky.
If you are able to use patches, there are a few different strengths of the patches available on todays market, and it’s recommended you should seek advice from a GP prior to using them so the right strength patch is given to you based on how many cigarettes you typically smoke in a day.
Nicotine spray
Nicotine spray is normally found in a canister shape bottle, and is administered by the user when they feel they have a craving for nicotine.
It’s sprayed onto the tongue and then disperses into the body via your taste buds. This will deliver a very small dose of nicotine to be absorbed into the body, and there isn’t really an advisory from what I can see on how much you can use, but you’ll still want to be cautious of overdoing it.
There aren’t a lot of flavours of this spray available, and some users have reported it doesn’t taste very nice when being used so may not be a viable solution for you if there isn’t a flavour you enjoy. It’s also a bulky sized cannister to be carrying around with you all the time.
Nicotine gum
Nicotine gum has been around for a while and is one of the long standing Nicotine replacement options on the market today, and it’s just what you think it is. Normal size pieces of chewing gum that contains a small dose of nicotine and more flavours to choose from than nicotine spray.
Enjoying nicotine gum is not as invisible as nicotine pouches or nicotine patches, but it looks and feels like normal gum. Some users have reported of getting a dry mouth or sore throat from constantly chewing gum. And also this isn’t a practical method of nicotine replacement therapy for someone who is unable to chew gum if they have sensitive/false teeth. Nicotine Gum is available in many different stores to purchase.
Nicotine pouches
Nicotine pouches are becoming a heavily preferred method when it comes to Nicotine Replacement Therapy due to there being a vast array of flavours as well as Nicotine strengths to choose from.
If you didn’t already know, Nicotine Pouches are small white pouches of nicotine and flavour that you place under your upper lip to rest between your lip and your gum. The come in various different nicotine strengths ranging from 4mg/g and goes to 12mg in strength in the ranges we offer here at Snusmail.
Nicotine pouches are completely tobacco-free unlike traditional Snus pouches which you may have seen before, these are illegal to be sold in the UK and only available in certain countries in Europe. The pouch is usually all white and soft and flavoured with what it says on the tin.
The most loved flavour is mint, but there are a lot of different flavours to choose from. We have a big selection of flavours to choose from in our store, check out our great selection by visiting our store!
